Hey Guys, oh my goodness I don’t know where to start!!!! We came to Wed 14th Nov matinee and I am still on cloud nine and havnt quite come back down to earth yet! 42nd Street has been my favourite musical for years Peggy Sawyer being my dream role, I’ve seen touring productions but nothing compares to what I witnessed on Wednesday, it was a toe taptastic showstopping spectacular!!! It honestly took my breath away I cried with amazement, joy, nostalgia all the way to the train station. I have danced and tapped since the age of 3, I used to be the principle Tap teacher at a local dance school and was also involved in musicals twice a year at Darlington hippodrome as part of DOS, I was an area trainer managing 65 people across the north east and teeside then sadly in 2014 I lost my life as I knew it and began to suffer with anxiety and depression this then unfortunately lead to anorexia, for the last x4yrs apart from treatment I havnt left my house, for x2 of these years I was unable to leave my bedroom, for x8months I was completely bed bound unable to move, walk, talk, think or see, I almost died and was taken to hospital in February, when you opened in 2016 it was my 30th Birthday and it was my dream to get to London to see 42nd Street sadly that didn’t happen, but x2years later I made it (and in my birthday week as well) it was completely worth the wait and more. Even better Bonnie Langford was in the show along with the original line up of the amazingly talented Clare Halse and the wonderful Tom Lister so it was just a dream it couldn’t have been any more perfect! From the moment the show started and the iconic feet of the hugely energetic company appeared I was hooked. The energies, enthusiasm and talent of the whole company was outstanding, my family who hadn’t seen the show before were in complete awe and wonder at the dazzling production to put on. Particular highlights for me were the big company numbers the vocals and harmonies when the whole company sang tiger where absolutely breath taking and soared through the theatre and every fiber of my being bringing it and me to life, go into your dance (this song is my personal favourite of the show), lullaby of broadway, we’re in the money and the stair scene with the syncopated accapella tapping oh my goodness I was in tears and physically shaking I was so overwhelmed it was just outstanding I don’t know what took over me it was just dazzling I audibly gasps it was amazing. Special mention to Bonnie Langford, always a huge fan in wherever or whatever you do you always bring such style and class, your pure stage presence is just so ‘show bizz’ and commanding, your comic time was excellent and that accent was just the perfect Dorothy, vocally amazing it was a pleasure and a dream to see you perform and shine like the superstar you are and I am beyond grateful you were performing that day. Clare Halse superstar, wow what energy!!!! Your tapping skills are off the chart, your adorable high octane performance of Peggy, your dancing was unbelievable as was your vocals you were just a bundle of pure joy, great comic timing and lovely tender touching emotions too. Tom Lister what a lead the perfect director, when you turned at the end ‘come and meet those dancing feet’ I got goose pimples. Special mention also to Emma Caffery ‘anytime Annie’ you were pheonominal your smile lit up the whole stage and your comic timing was excellent along with your dancing was totally on point you are certain not just a ‘chorus line girl’ you shone through tour the whole show with you beaming smile and energy. Jasna Ivir as Maggie also had a fun and nurturing performance with great comic timing. The costumes were out of this world they were just stunning. Also a mention to the orchestra for playing this amazing score beautifully with such energy and zest. My highlight was the finale dance routine it was just a spectacular sensation and just filled my heart with pure joy and adoration. I havnt been able to go to a theatre in x4yrs as it’s just so nostalgic and I miss performing so much but this was just perfect, I cried nearly all the way through at the sheer talent of the whole production and the heart each and every member of the company brought to the show. It was a truely magical day and I am so thrilled I got to meet your dancing feet. I am so overwhelmed and can not express enough what an outstanding, amazing, feel good, full of heart and pure joy production this was, this is true musical theatre. It’s brings about love, joy and uplifts even in the toughest of times. THANK YOU THANK YOU all cast crew production team costumes sound lighting set ect such an outstanding piece of theatre and such a spectacular performance that has shot straight to the top of my list I don’t think it will ever be topped !!!!!! Good Luck with the remainder of the run and enjoy every moment! I wish I were in the show with you, You are all superstars!!! Toi Toi Toi!!! Thankyou once again Claire!!!! Also a quick mention to all Drury Lane Theatre Royal staff, you were all so professional and helpful and also had great enthusiasm and positivity towards the show and were very attentive throughout the performance making the venue just lovely.
